ACL Informatics Tournament 2026

Join us for an exciting day of coding, collaboration, and competition at the ACL Informatics Tournament, the second ever in Academies of Loudoun history! This in-person event welcomes middle and high school students of all experience levels to tackle algorithmic problems in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Please read the information packet for more details and logistic information about the contest.

Divisions: Beginner and Advanced
Prizes:
$1000 value prize pool for both divisions. (more information in packet)
Custom Trophies for top teams and certificates for special awards.
Raffle prizes for individuals.

Why Compete?
Whether you're a seasoned coder or a curious beginner, this tournament offers a chance to sharpen problem-solving skills, collaborate under pressure, and build your resume—all while having fun! We encourage all people to come, regardless of prior experience or skill.

1. Who can participate?
Any middle or high school student is welcome to compete, regardless of programming experience!
2. How many members can a team have?
Teams can have up to 3 members.
3. What is the difference between the Classical and Advanced Divisions?
The Beginner Division is for teams with little to no prior programming experience or those who haven’t taken a Data Structures class. The Advanced Division is for teams with more experience or advanced coursework (above AP CS).
4. Do we need to bring our own laptops?
Yes, each team must bring one laptop or PC to use during the competition. Any Operating system (including chromebooks) works.
5. What programming languages are allowed?
Any language supported by Codeforces is allowed.
9. Will my parents be allowed in the building?
No. Parents are required to drop off participants through the school parking lot. They are not allowed into the building for safety reasons. Parents can come pick you up back at around 3:30 PM.
